he Mooney Suzuki is a rock and roll band formed in 1996. They have released four albums, The Mooney Suzuki, People Get Ready, Electric Sweat, and Alive & Amplified.
The band's sound can be described as high-energy rock'n'roll, drawing
heavily from mod, soul, garage, and British Invasion influences. Their
name is taken from the first two singers of the 1970s German Krautrock band Can: Malcolm Mooney and Damo Suzuki.
The band was featured in the Madden 2005 soundtrack and in the ATV Offrod Fury 3 soundtrack, with their song "Alive and Amplified", as well as the Burnout 3 soundtrack, with "Shake that Bush Again." The band has also appeared on the popular BBC 1 programme Friday Night With Jonathon Ross. The band is now the signature artist for the Suzuki brand (the automaker). An edited "Alive and Amplified" appears on all Suzuki commercials, pun intended. The ad placement has helped keep the band on the map.
"Alive and Amplified" was featured once again in the 2005 remake of Fun with Dick and Jane, as well as the 2006 film Grandma's Boy.
The band composed, as well as providing backing guitar for, the
original songs performed by Jack Black and the Kids for the movie School of Rock.(Trivia:: Sammy James Jr and Graham Tyler can be seen standing in the hallway as Jack Black and the kids rush on to back stage)
The band is currently in the studio recording their next album titled "Have Mercy" due out on V2 Records in spring 2007 (originally to have been released in January 2007 according to V2
marketing materials). Unfortunately, due to the reorganization of V2
announced in January 2007, the album will not be released on the label;
but, according to the band, it will still become available. The tour
for the new album is planned for February and March of 2007, and will
include Albert Hammond Jr. during the March dates
