KAISER CHIEFS
Named after the South African football club from whence the band’s beloved Leeds Utd bought their captain, Kaiser Chiefs have come a long way since their inception two short years ago. Comprising Leeds-based band members Ricky Wilson (vocals), Nick Hodgson (drums), “Whitey” White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass), and Nick “Peanut” Baines (keyboards), they have risen to the top of the charts on the art-rock, pop-punk wave.
Kaiser Chiefs first released I Predict A Riot back in November 2004; but it wasn’t a hit until it was re-released in September 2005. That was after Oh My God (No. 6) and EveryDay I Love You Less And Less (No. 10) had already established the Chiefs, while a fourth single, Modern Way, was released in October. The band’s debut album Employment on indie label B-Unique, made UK No.3 in March 2005 and has remained high in the chart since.
